Jordan Lewis Butler graduated from the University of Central Lancashire last summer with a degree in sports journalism. He has recently traded sunny Cornwall for not so sunny Manchester in the search for employment.

Hello again. I can’t believe it has been a whole month already, where does the time go? These blog posts do seem to swing by unnaturally fast.

To those of you who actually care; I’m still working as an editor at Graduate Prospects, I’m still a Spurs fan and I’m currently debating buying a second hand bicycle. Right, good, glad we got that cleared up.

Since my last post things have been going rather well (obviously excluding Tottenham’s recent form). I have been able to shoulder more responsibility, working on various articles across a number of publications. I’ve also familiarised myself with certain aspects of web programming, something which previously seemed an alien concept to me.

With deadlines starting to loom, I imagine the pressure may increase before my next monthly offering. I’m quietly confident though that I’ll be able to complete all of my articles in time, but I probably should devise a ‘Plan B’ in case things don’t go swimmingly.

As mentioned in my last post, I’m involved with the social media side of things, something which I am increasingly passionate about (I’m a self-confessed Twitter addict and I’m not even ashamed to admit it). I also try to help out with the company’s Facebook account when time allows and I’ve been researching ideas to do with Google+ and Pinterest (watch this space).

The role is so varied and I’m learning a lot. My colleague Luke and I have just started working on video content for the website, filming case studies of graduates talking about their experiences of work after university. These will go into the various sectors on the Graduate Prospects site, so keep a look out for them if you can.

With my contract up at the end of July it may be time to start looking for permanent employment. Hopefully this editorial spell will provide the stepping stone to a similar position elsewhere. I feel like I’m constantly learning and when the time comes to update my CV, I’m certain it will be in far better shape than this time last year.

Having said that I’d really love to stay here, so I’ll just continue to get my head down and try and keep my foot firmly in the door. After all, the Spurs motto is ‘Audere est facere’ which is Latin for ‘To do is to dare’. I think I’ll just keep doing and daring and see where that gets me. Wish me luck.

Yours thoughtfully, Jordan Lewis Butler @jlbutler10
