Case studies : QC Manager at Croda: Elanor Butler-Malone

Elanor Butler-Malone did a Masters of Chemistry with industrial experience at the University of Edinburgh. She is now a QC Manager at Croda Europe Ltd based in Leek, Staffordshire.

I joined Croda in July 2007 as a Development Scientist on their graduate development programme. Based at the Leek site I was responsible for managing my own projects, which varied between lab-based and plant-based. My projects covered a wide range of areas and processes which allowed me to rapidly develop my technical skills. Additionally, the graduate development programme and the Certificate in Management, from the Open University that Croda sponsored me through, further developed my professional skills.

Following the completion of the graduate development programme I had the opportunity to apply for the QC Manager position on the Leek site. On successfully getting the role, I am now in my third year with Croda and in my new role I can continue to expand my knowledge and interact with more departments that are both in site, off site and external to Croda.

I continue to enjoy my work and see my career within Croda.
