William Pilkington did an MSc Energy Futures (Renewable) Engineering before becoming an environmental adviser/engineer at Petrofac.
I chose Petrofac for the international travel opportunities and the chance to move into other disciplines.
I have a number of projects on the go including being responsible for updating our procedures in the new business management system (BMS). I’m hoping that soon I will be placed in an environmental engineering project and will also get involved in some other projects in oil and gas after this.
Since I arrived at Petrofac I have learned that the company is full of opportunities you just have to wait for the right one for you to come along.
Mentoring is a very good support mechanism, so if you’re not sure of something then your mentor can always put you straight!
I’ve been on quite a few training courses - latest one was the oil spill responder training course which is accredited by the UK government so it was pretty cool!
One of the main perks is the flexi days which are great, especially for me with friends and family being down south it allows me to spend longer down there when I go down!
