Charlotte Davis studied MEng (Hons) Chemical Engineering before joining Petrofac and becoming a graduate process engineer working in offshore projects.
I chose Petrofac as they came across as a fast growing company with lots of ambition. Also, when I visited the offices for my assessment centre everyone was so friendly and welcoming.
I am currently helping to put together an operating and maintenance philosophy. This is very varied and I have been looking at everything from how the project will be started up and shut down, to the frequency and type of maintenance and inspection.
On a day to day basis, I am supported by my manager and other engineers within my team. I have got a mentor who I meet with every couple of months to help me with my professional chartership. I’ve got a ‘buddy’ who is a recent graduate of the Petrofac scheme. The organisational development team are also great at giving support when needed.
There is a training matrix depending on your discipline which provides a range of technical and generic courses. As a graduate, you are constantly learning new things on the job.
Since joining Petrofac I have learned that even if you don’t know the answer to something then there will also be someone there who can help you.
The social life is good with drinks after work, bowling trips and Christmas meals. Petrofac also organised a dinner dance in January which included lovely food and great entertainment.
The perks are good with a decent amount of holiday time, the possibility to work flexi-time, a contributory pension, a health plan, the cycle to work scheme, and a Share Incentive Plan.
