Case studies : Careers Adviser at RSC: Charlie Ashley-Roberts

Charlie Ashley-Roberts is a Careers Adviser at RSC. Before joining the company she was a formulation chemist after studying medical and pharmaceutical science at Nottingham Trent University.

There's no doubt that I made the right choice of career as I really look forward to work every morning at the RSC. In the six months that I have been with the organisation, my role as Trainee Career Adviser has taken me as far afield as Germany and Norway.

It's fantastic here. I love it. People are just lovely - like a really big family. I have no problem going to see our Chief Executive and decisions get made, which I like.

The RSC is supporting me towards a Postgraduate Certificate through distance learning and even offering time off for occasional residential courses. In return, I am already putting a lot back. Not just in terms of my work with career seekers and universities, but also through my participation in the Sports and Social Committee and the setting up of a new running club.
