Alex Caliman took on a placement with Intel Corporation UK as a customer business analyst.
Intel is a multinational company with a great reputation and I was interested to see how such a fast-moving industry works. I found out about Intel’s placement at a university work experience fair. On the day of my interview I was impressed by the company’s work culture and environment.
I was given a specific role to fulfil with the same level of responsibility as a full-time employee. During the 13 months I have been with Intel I have developed a great deal, both on a professional and a personal level. The experience has thoroughly prepared me to take on any other role after I graduate.

My main responsibility has been the supply chain for customers in Eastern Europe. This often proved extremely challenging due to the complexity of dealing with various countries with different cultures and languages.
Everyone in the department has been extremely helpful during my placement and helped me when needed – I have grown to feel part of a big family. Also, I have received plenty of career advice from my manager, placement buddy and colleagues which has served as a guide for my future career plans.
During my placement I’ve realised that I would like to pursue a career in sales. I have made the most of all of the opportunities made available to me such as customer visits, field representative shadowing, and projects and managed to get a good insight into the field.
