We submit your application and supporting documents to the universities for you and liaise with the university on your behalf. We do not send your originals to the universities. |
| david_325 | Would the degree/qualification be recognised in the UK and elsewhere in the world? |
| Fiona @ Study Overseas | Hi David, yes all Australian qualifications are internationally recognised |
| Chloe2009 | Where can I study in Australia? |
| Frances @ Study Overseas | Universities are placed all over Australia with larger concentrations in Sydney, Melbourne & Brisbane. As most of these cities are coastal, campuses are virtually "on the beach". There is really a huge range of environments e.g in Melbourne there can be four seasons in a day, Perth is very hot, Adelaide has a Mediterranean feel to both weather and its culture. In most cases your choice of course would most likely dictate your place of study. What area of study are you interested in? |
| noah576 | Is there any on-campus accommodation? / What are my accommodation options? |
| Fiona @ Study Overseas | Most universities have a range of on-campus accommodation options - mainly residential colleges or self catered apartments. As a postgraduate student you may like to stay on-campus for 6 months and then move to private shared house accommodation after that. Contact us after the chat for more infomation on the types of accommodation available and the cost. |
| maybeoz09 | How much does it cost and are there funding or scholarship opportunities available? |
| Frances @ Study Overseas | Costs start frm around A$15,000 (£7,000) to A$35,000 (£17,000) in tuition costs per annum for international students. In addition to this you must declare that you have access to A$15,000 (£$7,000) per year for living costs. As an international student you pay a full fee and this can be expensive however all up it is less costly to live in Australia and the experience of obtaining an international qualification can be very rewarding if you can afford it. Scholarships are available for both taught and research masters - these normally close around end of June for study in Feb 2010. If you wish to receive more info on this email me frances@studyoverseasglobal.com or phone 0207 298 2993. frances |

| heather | When do I need to submit my application if I am looking to start this year? |
| Fiona @ Study Overseas | Hi Heather, intakes are in February/March and July each year. A limited number of institutions offer a 3rd intake for a small number of courses. For February 2010 we suggest you apply now, even if you have not received your final transcripts |
| charles_jacobs | What types of Postgraduate degrees are available? |
| Fiona @ Study Overseas | Hi Charles, you can study a Graduate Certificate (6 months), Graduate Diploma (12 months) or a Masters (normally 1.5 or 2 years). |
| Fiona @ Study Overseas | You can study a Coursework (taught) or Resarch Postgraduate program in Australia. Some courses are a combination of both. |
| HHHHH12 | Is there an upper age limit for a student visa? |
| Fiona @ Study Overseas | There is no upper age limit for a student visa. We have helped students between the ages of 18 and 65 |
| kevinp | Apart from the weather, why Australia instead of staying in the UK? |
| Frances @ Study Overseas | Good question - we get asked this all the time. Australian universities rank in the top 100 universities in the world. They offer excellent opportunities for research and as the Australian Government's commitment to R&D is huge, funding is made available for students research. Having an international qualification can add value to your CV and seeing the culture and lifestyle has more similarities then most other western English speaking countries, Australia is one of your better options. |
| Fiona @ Study Overseas | To study in Australia you need a student visa. This currently costs A$450, is valid for the entire duration of the course plus 3 months either side and includes permission to work part time during term and full time during your scheduled study breaks. For British and EU citizens the visa application process is very straightforward and mostly done online . You need to have an offer from an Australian University and accepted that offer and paid the first semester tuition fees, to apply for a visa. |
| Lala1979 | Hi. What happens if I don’t meet the entry requirements? |
| Fiona @ Study Overseas | If you do not meet the entry requirements for a Masters, you may be eligible for a Graduate Certificate or a Graduate Diploma. You may be able to progress onto a Masters if you successfully complete. |
| noah576 | What visa do I need? |
| Frances @ Study Overseas | sorry about the delay - you would need a Student Visa. Depending on your nationality there are several Assessment Level types where a number of requirements have to be met. For British applicants it very straight-forward where you only need to declare that you have access to funds. |
| Charlie64 | Hi. Is Funding/Scholarships, etc more likely if you have a Masters rather than just a degree? Or does it make no difference. And how likely is it that I would get some financial help? |
| Fiona @ Study Overseas | Unfortunately scholarships and other forms of funding are very limited and competitive, and generally only offered at research / PhD level. Some universities offer their own individual scholarships but again this is not common and is only in some subject areas. Contact us after the chat if you have a specific university in mind and we can talk through any funding opportunities which may be available. |
| noah576 | Can I work while I am studying? |
| Frances @ Study Overseas | On a Student Visa you can work 20 hours a week during term time and full-time during the break. |
| Fiona @ Study Overseas | Remember you can contact us after the chat if you would like to discuss anything in detail - our phone number is 0207 298 2990 and email address is ozinfo@studyoverseasglobal.co.uk or skype us at studyoveseasuk |
| Fiona @ Study Overseas | Sorry! - skype address is studyoverseasoz |
| heather | Great, thanks. What are my options if I want to stay in Australia when I finish studying? |
| Frances @ Study Overseas | there are several options - you can apply for a Graduate Visa which allows you to work up to two years. Or apply for permanent residency which may only be available to you if you have studied for more than two years. As we are not Immigration consultants I cannot advise you on the specifics - you can find more info on the Immigration website www.immi.gov.au . |
| timtim | What are the main benefits of studying with you in Australia? Is it worth the investment? |
| Fiona @ Study Overseas | all of our students have said it is worth the investment and have not regretted one moment of it. Australia's enviable lifestyle is one that springs to mind first for most people. The main benefits are a world class education, internationally recognised qualification, a chance to meet people from all over the world, invaluable life skills, enhanced career prospects (the fact that you have gone out of your comfort zone and studied outside your own country is very appealing to employers and looks great on your CV) and potential post study work opportunities |
| marcin | How long is a Masters? Thanks |
| Frances @ Study Overseas | Arts programs are usually 1 - 1.15yrs and Science programs from 1.5-2yrs for taught and 3yrs for research programs. |
| Tyson8787 | Hi What are the starting dates and how long does each term last please? Thanks Adrian |
| Fiona @ Study Overseas | Hi Adrian, most universities offer just two start dates per year. The main one is February/March and all programs are offered. The 2nd intake is July where most courses except for Medicine, Education and some Sciences are offered. Academic year for most universities is made up of 2 semesters, with a short break around Easter, about a month in middle of the year, a short break in September and about 3 months between December and February during the Australian summer. |
| HAFEDH78 | Hi, my name is hafed, i have a MS.c in coastal zone management, i worked for a couple a years since my graduation and now i would like to do Ph.D. Australia seems like one of the options. Who should i contact ,Is there any available interships or funding, Many thanks |
| Frances @ Study Overseas | We can certainly help - Australia offers some of the best coastal environments for this type of study. You can email me frances@studyoverseasglobal.com or phone 0207 298 2993 and I'd be happy to talk you through the process. Scholarships are available but are very competitive. There are more opportunities for funding once you have enrolled. If you would like to apply for a scholarship closing dates are usually around 31st June (Feb start) or 31st December (July). |
| trihhoang | Hi, do employers help with the work permit for international students wishing to stay and work in the UK? |
| Frances @ Study Overseas | If you mean working in Australia, yes employers could sponsor a student. I cannot advise you further on this as we only advise and assist with studying in Australia. Although from experience we have had a few students whom after completing practicals/internships have had employers support for a work permit. |
| Fiona @ Study Overseas | Thank you everyone for visiting our chat session and for your questions. Have a great afternoon and please do contact either Frances or myself on 0207 298 2990 or email ozinfo@studyoverseasglobal.co.uk for free advice. Fiona |
