Sexual orientation: Overview |
Diversity has become increasingly important in employers recruitment vocabulary. Sexual orientation in the workplace also has a much higher profile as it is now illegal to discriminate on these grounds. In addition, a national survey by Stonewall in 2005 of employer attitudes to lesbian and gay employees and applicants has raised the profile of this subject in the media. Your sexual orientation is nobody elses business. However, it may be relevant if, for example, you want to include on your CV a post of responsibility in your students union lesbian, gay and bisexual (LGB) society. How should you react if someone asks you about your partner at interview? What are the issues around coming out at work? This section aims to provide guidance to help you answer these important questions, and more.
