What opportunities are available?

Publishing is a global industry and opportunities for graduates exist in many countries outside the UK.

Many of the large publishing houses are owned by multinational companies with head offices outside of the UK (see typical employers). They may also have functions around the globe, for example their production house could be in India.

Where are the opportunities?

Although most of the work is coordinated from the UK, graduate roles may include some travel or may be based outside of the UK, to places such as:

• USA;
• Canada;
• New Zealand;
• Australia;
• South Africa;
• Ireland;
• Hong Kong;
• Singapore.

International students and those with knowledge of relevant languages other than English may have an advantage in applying for jobs outside of the UK.

Can I use my qualifications abroad?

The higher education system within the UK is generally recognised globally; therefore a UK degree is usually of value when working abroad. UK work experience is certainly recognised as useful.
