
Chris graduated with a degree in Economic and Social Studies BA (Econ) from the University of Manchester and went on to complete the Diploma in Careers Guidance. She then gained experience working as a careers adviser in schools, further education colleges and 6th form colleges. Eleven years ago she moved to work in what was a college of higher education (now a university).
Whilst working there as a careers adviser Chris gained experience in working with a wide range of students, but in particular students undertaking degrees in education (teaching), nursing, midwifery, social science, psychology and law.
Chris also undertook some careers guidance work for students studying for a degree through the Open University. Chris went on to study for a Masters in Education (Lifelong Learning) through the Open University which she completed in 2002. She has also completed a certificate in counselling skills and is an NVQ assessor and holder of a further education and adult teaching qualification. Chris is also qualified to deliver and interpret a wide range of psychometric tests and assessments including the Hogan Personality Inventory.
More recently Chris has moved to work as a careers adviser at a traditional civic university where she is the dedicated careers adviser for the School of Medical Education, developing and delivering career planning and guidance programmes for undergraduate medical students. She is also involved in guidance to students from all departments of the university when she undertakes duty sessions on a weekly basis.
