The Faculty of Technology, Engineering and the Environment, offers degrees that encompass over 50 categories of technology. Our portfolio extends from mechanical and electronic engineering, through to motorsport, environmental, construction and property studies, wide-ranging IT-based and computer networking courses including games technology and forensic computing, to multimedia, film, sound and television technologies. Courses are delivered to over 3000 students on either a full-time, part-time, or flexible delivery basis through our four schools:

All our courses are accredited by one or more professional bodies ranging from Institution of Engineering Technology (IET), Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) to Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).

Located in the prestigious £114m Millennium Point - City Centre Campusin the heart of Birmingham, we have outstanding facilities that support students from all levels of study including foundation, professional development short courses and postgraduate research courses.

Our well-equipped laboratories enhance students' educational experience, providing a bridge between theoretical learning and hands-on teaching to prepare them for a career in industry. Collaboration with industry is at the heart of our teaching, enabling us to keep our courses relevant and up-to-date and putting our students in prime position for industrial placements, chances to contribute to real-life projects, and career opportunities.

Our international partnerships have forged links with Apple, aerospace giant Rolls Royce, global electronics leader NEC, enterprise resource planning specialists SAP and the Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation's UK Technical Centre. We have also collaborated with over 4000 small and medium engineering and technology-based businesses, supporting new product and process developments and transferring new technologies and skills into such companies.

School of Computing, Telecommunications and Networks

The School of Computing, Telecommunications and Networksis recognised both nationally and internationally for the high quality of our teaching, research and extensive industry partnerships and is established as one of the leading academies for Microsoft, Apple and Cisco Systems.

We deliver computing-related courses designed to equip you with the skills demanded by technical industries and employers. These include computer science, information systems, e-business technologies, electronics, embedded systems, web technologies, telecommunications, networking, security and computer forensics.

School of Digital Media Technology

The School of Digital Media Technologyoffers technology-based multimedia courses, business services and research projects, in the area's of film, special effects and television production, sound & music, games and multimedia technology.

We are a recognised Skillset Media Academy a centre of excellence in television and interactive media. Awarded as the result of a careful balance between teaching, participation in research and consultancy activities and close ties with industry.

With film and television studios, multi-track recording studios, post-production facilities, and several hundred multimedia stations, our facilities extend to an incredible 1200m2 of dedicated teaching space, with further expansion planned for the near future.

School of Engineering, Design and Manufacturing Systems

The School of Engineering, Design and Manufacturing Systems is a recognised leader in education, training and business solutions, offering a wide range of courses that benefit from active engagement with regional, national and international industry - giving students the best possible introduction to modern engineering.

The School is the first UK-based academy for PTC Inc - a major business software solutions provider to the US-Government and international business, this partnership allows our students to have access to industry-standard tools such as ProE. We are a lighthouse member of the SAP University Alliance Programme and are also working with leading international technology and engineering solution provider, Technosoft, which provides our students with access to industry-standard computer-aided engineering (CAE) tools.

Birmingham School of the Built Environment

The Birmingham School of the Built Environment offers a range of courses designed to give graduates the edge in professional careers in surveying, construction, property, architectural technology and planning. Our postgraduate programmes offer professional accreditation from bodies such as the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and the Royal Town Planning Institute (RPTI).

We are a major provider of vocational courses for the property and construction industries and are recognised as modern, multi-disciplinary and diverse educational champions of the built environment. Our innovative collaboration with Birmingham City Council's Urban Design Team has provided our students with opportunities to gain work experience from placements, work on key individual research projects, and gain invaluable technical application skills. This collaboration has seen our students win council awards for their excellence and some projects will be directly influencing future council policy.

All of our courses offer a rewarding and enriching study experience. Our graduates are nationally recognised as people who can respond to the challenges of industry.
