More than 4000 students and 150 academic staff make Leicester Business School one of the largest providers of business and management courses in the UK. Academic and industry expertise within the School is extensive, and the internationally respected research carried out by staff directly informs teaching.

Academic strengths

  • The Times Good University Guide 2010 ranked Leicester Business School 7th out of 110 business schools across the country for overall student satisfaction.
  • The university offers a stimulating MBA which links the research strengths of the Business School with the industry experience of students.
  • In the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise, 80 per cent of the Business Management research quality was recognised internationally in terms of originality, significance and rigour.

From pre-Master's certificates and specialist taught postgraduate Master's, to MBAs and research degrees, the Leicester Business School at DMU offers a comprehensive portfolio of postgraduate and professional courses.

All postgraduate courses are designed to prepare students to excel in all areas of business including strategy and management, marketing, accounting and finance, human resources, international commerce and entrepreneurialship.

The Business School's flexible attitude towards teaching means it can offer alternative ways to study postgraduate courses, for example, The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) Professional Diploma in Marketing is offered as a part-time course for existing practitioners and the MBA  is available as a full-time or part-time executive course.
Professional accreditation and partnership feature across many courses and provide a strong endorsement of the Business School's high standards of teaching and expertise.

The Chartered Institute of Housing accredits an acclaimed suite of specialised courses in Housing Studies in the Business School's highly regarded Department of Public Policy, whose portfolio covers disciplines from international business and globalisation to public administration and government.

Courses in Accountancy and Finance are delivered in partnership with major professional bodies, including the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA).

The Leicester Business School is located in the brand new Hugh Aston Building, one of the most exciting campus developments ever created at DMU. This £35 million facility officially opened in March 2010 and boasts contemporary lecture theatres, meeting rooms and a bespoke postgraduate and professional study suite. These are complemented by the latest IT and communication facilities and social spaces including a specialist bookshop, café and tree-lined plaza.   

Students benefit from DMU's ambitious and innovative approach to Higher Education, which for more than 100 years, has enabled the university to break barriers in research and build firm links with business.

Accommodation

DMU students

DMU postgraduate students live in privately rented accommodation, within easy reach of the University campus. The university's Housing Office is available to help students source accommodation and advice on contracts and tenancy agreements. In September, the Housing Office hosts house-hunting information events where postgraduates can meet other students looking for privately-rented accommodation.
