Our one-year MSc programmes are delivered by a group of world-renowned scholars many with practical experience. The Management faculty provides research leadership to prestigious institutions like the Department of Trade and Industry - UK, Max Planck Institute - Germany, Research Institute of Economy, Trade and Industry – Japan, European Trade Union Congress - Brussels, and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales. Our highly international faculty is drawn from over 10 countries, and has experience living and working internationally.

This mix of students helps bring a diversity of ideas and perspectives to the business topics we discuss. It also helps students gain an appreciation for different cultures.

Postgraduate programmes in the Department of Management

MSc in Human Resource Management and Organisational Analysis

The MSc in HRM and OA provides an advanced programme in human resource management and organisational analysis which is contemporary in outlook and based on a broad behavioural and social science approach. For those who select specified options, the MSc can lead to membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). The programme provides participants with analytic skills, in-depth insights into contemporary developments in HRM, and provides a basis for building a rewarding career as an HR manager.

MSc in International Management

Managers increasingly need to develop global perspectives on business, but also one informed by a deep understanding of the different national and cultural contexts in which firms operate. The MSc in International Management offers an integrative understanding of these issues informed by a broad range of social sciences that will prepare students for successful careers in the world of international business.

MSc Public Services Policy and Management

The MSc in Public Services Policy and Management is for both mid-career professionals and recent social science graduates making a career in public services, including the voluntary and non-governmental sector. Its strong comparative focus benefits those working in non-UK public services as well as UK professionals concerned with policy experience and alternatives. The programme attracts participants from a wide range of countries and sectors and equips them to evaluate policy options for the organisation, funding and delivery of contemporary public services.

MRes in Management and Social Science

This programme brings together students from a variety of departments to develop their research skills. The degree serves two purposes, it enables students to research an area of Management with the help of a supervisor and it hones their broader social science research skills. Having successfully completed the course students can, if they wish, apply to the PhD programme and develop their research interests still further. The course is recognised by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), and students are encouraged to apply to that body for funding.
