Today's modern, full-range Business School offers undergraduate, postgraduate and higher research degrees in all major sub-disciplines of business and management. With some 4,000 undergraduate and 1,300 postgraduate students (including 60 research students and 420 professional accounting students), we are one of the largest business schools in the UK.

In partnership with local colleges of further education we can also offer foundation degrees and access to National Vocational Qualifications, providing a ladder of opportunities for individuals at different stages of their business and management careers.

We offer a comprehensive range of postgraduate qualifications, from certificates to doctoral degrees, and our MBA programmes are accredited by the Association of MBAs. We deliver professionally oriented and accredited programmes. We have established close relationships with key professional bodies, ensuring that our programmes are cutting edge and industry-led. We provide tuition for all levels of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) professional accounting qualifications - and are one of the few higher education institutions in the UK accredited by ACCA at platinum level.

Academic Strengths

The Business School has built its reputation by adapting to the fast-changing local economy. Thinking ahead is as vital for the Business School as it is for business, and with the city of Manchester emerging as the second largest financial and professional services centre outside London, we were first to create a qualification in partnership with the Institute of Financial Planning.

Looking back, we were also first to introduce a full-time degree in Retail Marketing Management, now the fourth largest sector in the city's economy, and first to pioneer both BA (Hons) Digital Marketing Communications and MSc Digital Marketing Communications programmes. The ICT Digital sector now employs over 100,000 people in our region and we have since launched MSc Internet Retailing and MSc Digital Publishing programmes.

Academic Divisions and Research Centres

The Business School is structured around six academic divisions and six research centres which reflect the full range of business and management studies, as well as the School's own distinctive strengths:
