Our students benefit from close links with businesses, a strong record of international work and collaboration and an excellent international reputation for applied research postgraduate and professional courses in the areas of accounting; business administration; economics; finance; personnel and human resources; international business; management and marketing. The School's courses represent a valuable investment in your future and are designed so that your aspirations and the needs of business are successfully matched. In many functional areas such as HR a professional qualification is a vital prerequisite for career progression.
Nottingham Business School's MBAs have been developed for business professionals at various stages of their careers. From the full-time one-year MBA to the part-time two-year qualification, all our MBA courses combine academic rigour with relevant practical business experience. Both offer a reflective management development experience, including the completion of a unique industry-based consultancy project. Additionally, many professional bodies - such as the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), the Chartered Institute of Public Financial Accountants (CIPFA), the European Forum for Management Development (EFMD) and the Association of Business Schools - rate the Business School so highly that they accredit our courses, giving our graduates exemption from further study. Nottingham Business School is a Centre of Research Excellence for the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) - the first of only a select few in the country.

We seek to make a difference in spreading business education globally, especially in emerging markets where our work helps to support economic and commercial development. Research
Nottingham Business School's active research community embraces academic staff, research fellows and doctoral students. Research is seen as an important activity to ensure the vitality and health of academic subjects. It underpins and enriches the teaching that takes place on undergraduate, postgraduate and professional courses. Currently, we have some 40 research students from around the world. Researchers within the Business School are well known internationally for the quality of their work, which is regularly published in leading management journals. Work undertaken maintains a direct relevance to business practice, the interdisciplinary nature of which provides the rationale for its research themes, in which high quality supervision for research students is available, including:
The latest results of the Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) - an in-depth analysis of the quality of research across all universities in the UK - show that 80% of the research being undertaken at Nottingham Business School is judged to be of an international standard. And some elements of our activities are classed as 'world-leading'. This achievement is all the more impressive because Nottingham Business School made one of the largest RAE submissions of any post-1992 university in the Business and Management category. Our performance places us ahead of many traditional universities. Research degrees
Nottingham Business School offer opportunities for postgraduate study leading to PhD and MPhil, by both full and part-time study, across a wide range of disciplines. Some programmes of study can be taken by distance learning. We also positively encourage interdisciplinary research. Students are supervised by nationally and internationally recognised researchers in Nottingham Business School. The School works closely with the University Graduate School which has a specialist academic team devoted to teaching the methodology of business research. This arrangement enables all research students to access the expert training they need to design and conduct a successful research project, and means that they also participate in a strong, lively community of research students. Wherever you want to be in business, we'll help you get there, with courses that reflect the needs of today's international organisations. Contact details |
