Birmingham Business School's MBA has International Business and Global Markets at its heart. The Birmingham MBA is a high quality suite of programmes in a flexible format to meet the needs of those wishing to study either full or part-time. Ranked in both the FT and Economist and accredited by AMBA and EQUIS, the Birmingham Business School MBA is internationally acclaimed. Flexibility is a hallmark of the Birmingham MBA. Study can be full or part time, the part time course is delivered in block modules. The University of Birmingham's MBA focuses on creating business leaders through teaching cutting edge theory in state of the art facilities. It is broad based and gives an international perspective; critical in today's globalised market place. The full time programme takes one year and a preliminary year is also available for those not qualified for direct entry. Part time delivery for the Executive MBA is designed to be as flexible as possible to meet the needs of busy professionals juggling career and other commitments with study. It can take between two and four years to complete depending on the amount of time the individual is able to commit to study. The School
Birmingham Business School has been a major player in business education for more than a century and provides a wide variety of highly regarded programmes across a range of business disciplines. The School enjoys an international reputation and with the scope of research across academic staff the most up to date research findings are linked directly into the teaching programmes. Over a hundred years ago it was a founding condition of the University of Birmingham that business studies be taught. We offered the first business degree in England when students were recruited in 1902 and postgraduate programmes soon followed in 1905. Our long tradition of management education over more than a century has been given a contemporary edge with our recent move into University House, a purpose designed new home. It is here that students taking the Birmingham MBA are based. University House is situated in its own extensive landscaped grounds on the edge of campus. A multi-million pound teaching and learning centre with state-of-the-art facilities has been added to the original historic building of 1908. The elegant old house now houses staff offices and the School's social areas include a common room and lounge with café. We feel we have the best of both worlds - an elegant and atmospheric building in keeping with the School's long history and tradition - coupled with extensive teaching and learning facilities appropriate for the 21st century. MBA students find University House a stimulating place to work. Staff are easily accessible; a range of lecture, seminar and syndicate rooms support a variety of teaching formats and IT provision is excellent.
Students from all around the world choose to study with us and each year we expect to have over 50 different nationalities represented on the MBA. The School has extensive experience in welcoming students from around the world. The Birmingham MBA appeals to international students because of its relevance and global perspectives and also because of the support the University and School offers students from overseas. With over 70 lecturing and research staff - many internationally recognised authorities in their field - all major business subject areas are represented within the School. A number of research centres have been developed to build on areas of specialised excellence reflecting a dynamic global environment. International Finance, Strategy and Procurement Management, Industrial Strategy and EU-South East Asia Trade are amongst them. Members of the School maintain close links with industry, the financial community and major business professions. Consultancies have been undertaken for many companies and organisations such as the World Bank, the Bank of England and the Asian Development Bank. There are links with a number of governments and members of staff have been seconded from the University to play major roles in the regulation of industry and in advising national institutions. The School is also well represented in technical, educational and research functions of a variety of professional bodies. The Campus
The University of Birmingham is situated within 234 acres of parkland and includes large lawns and even a lake. Its architecture is varied; from the grand traditional Victorian redbrick buildings of the Great Hall to the recently built extension to the Business School. The campus contains a variety of retail outlets including several restaurants, banks, bookshops and supermarkets. The Barber Institute houses a concert hall and holds an international collection of paintings within its gallery. The University Library houses well over one and a half million volumes and is actually one of the most extensive university libraries within the UK. Sports facilities on campus are excellent. There is a sports hall, gym, swimming pool, saunas as well as an outdoor running track. The City of Birmingham
