Fantastic facilitiesOur Art and Design and Technology courses are taught at our £21m Markeaton Street site, which is equipped with open studios, workshops for both chemical and digital photography, facilities for our moving image makers to use both film and digital processes, fashion and textile design studios, extensive Mac labs and craft workshops for wood, metal, ceramics, plaster and jewellery. If you're studying a Humanities subject you'll be based at Kedleston Road, at the heart of our Derby campus. It's equipped with a light and airy atrium, cafes and meeting places and a four-storey library crammed with learning resources. Showcase your workYou'll have plenty of opportunities to exhibit your work throughout your course, and also at the final year Degree Show. ResearchOur research plays a major role in supporting what we teach you, and directly helps organisations to solve real world issues. We believe that applied research is an essential feature of a university like ours. We have a number of research groups which combine the best of both worlds by having strong connections with the Derbyshire region and active international links. Their work often contributes directly to the development and well-being of the region. We'll support you all the wayFrom your initial enquiry right through to your graduation, we will give you the advice, guidance and direction you need to reach your full potential. We also support new and emerging creative businesses through our Banks Mill Studios. Here you can gain business advice and studio space to work and exhibit in. You'll also have the opportunity to showcase your business and network with valuable industry contacts at the bi-annual open studios events. Our ID Centre provides the same service for rail, engineering, aerospace and technology businesses. All our postgraduate courses are vocationally focused and regularly updated to make sure that you learn the latest industry thinking. Our graduates have won numerous national and international awards and have gone on to establish enviable reputations in their chosen professions. In the design field, students have gone on to work in areas such as graphic design, textile design, children's book illustration, fashion design, publishing, animation and other areas in the creative design and communication industries. Our courses also have an excellent track record of working with the industries on live projects, supported by companies such as The Bridge Design Group, fashion store Oasis, Anglia Television and Rolls-Royce PLC.
