Research

Our research plays a major role in supporting what we teach to our students, and directly helps organisations to solve real world issues. All of our research groups combine the best of both worlds by having strong connections with the Derbyshire region and active international links. Their work often contributes directly to the development and well-being of the region:

• Jill Hanson and a team of academics from Derby are conducting a census of ethnic minority business (EMB) in the Normanton area of Derby. They are exploring the availability of support for EMB's, as well as the effectiveness and take up of this support and the identification of what else would be of use to them.
• Melanie Powell, whose research is exploring the training and human resource development for older workers in the financial sector, is developing an empirical study in the UK financial sector to examine the relationship between age, trust, and training, to analyse how best to work with age diversity and tackling stereotypes.

The residential

All of our postgraduate degrees begin with a residential. This is a great way to get to know your fellow students and at the same time it combines fun, learning and development in a friendly and challenging environment. The cost of the residential is included in the programme fees.

Entry requirements

You will usually need:

• A good honours degree or relevant experience
• If your first language is not English you will need to evidence a proficiency in English (IELTS 6.5) or TOEFL 90 (internet based)
