Research Themes:
• Nonlinear systems
• Signal processing and complex systems
• Space systems data modelling and instrumentation
• Control systems, analysis and design
• Intelligent Systems
• Robotics
• Neural and Fuzzy Systems
• Evolutionary Computing
• Optimisation and Decision Support

Postgraduate Taught Courses

MSc Control Systems
This continually evolving postgraduate course has been running for over 40 years, attracts graduates from many scientific disciplines and has the support of the UK EPSRC - Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council.

MSc Computational Intelligence
Computational intelligence brings together research in
engineering, computing and neuroscience.

Research Degrees
PhD and MPhil projects are available in a wide variety of multi-disciplinary research areas. Research can be carried out in either of our two major research theme areas: “Intelligent Systems and Control” and “Complex Systems, Signal Processing and Control”. Much of our research is carried out in our research centres in co-operation with major companies such as Rolls-Royce and BAE Systems, with the former having a major research centre established in our Department since 1993.
