Our staff are leaders in their fields with extensive experience across art and design. They are committed to providing quality teaching and come from a range of commercial backgrounds. Their close, sustained links with industry ensure you are kept up-to-date with current practices.

We have recently invested £5m in our facilities and are committed to continuing this to make sure we have the latest cutting-edge equipment and resources that meet industry standards.

Research

At WSA we are committed to becoming a major international centre for research in global art and design, culture and communication.

We have recently established new chairs in global arts and culture, global art and politics, and global media and communication. We are proud to be a hub for important public events and offer a vibrant venue for artists and intellectuals to debate the key issues of the 21st century.

Our research encompasses fine art, graphic arts, fashion and textile design, marketing, branding, management and contemporary arts, curatorship, and our researchers disseminate creative practice in all these areas through internationally-recognised publications and exhibitions.

Postgraduate study

Study at WSA and you will join our close-knit group of 170 postgraduates who are pushing the boundaries of research.

Supported by internationally respected academics, you will have access to state-of-the-art facilities and experience world-leading research as it happens.

Location

We are based in the picturesque, historical, cultural city of Winchester, close to the vibrant city of Southampton, the South coast and the New Forest.

As well as our modern, purpose-built campus in Winchester, we also have campuses in Elisava, Spain, and Dalian, China.

As part of the University of Southampton you can also use the fantastic facilities at the University's Highfield campus including the Hartley Library, the Nuffield Theatre, the John Hansard Gallery, the Students' Union bar, and a state-of-the art sporting complex.

Accommodation

Erasmus Park is our purpose-built student accommodation in Winchester. All accommodation is self-catered and there are between seven and 10 bedrooms per flat/house with a shared kitchen/dining area.
