No one's better qualified

Jenny Stanton
In order to become a chartered accountant you need to undertake a professional accountancy qualification. The ACA qualification from ICAEW can take you to the top in your chosen career – in fact 80% of FTSE 100 members have an ACA on their board. ICAEW Chartered Accountants work within practice, business, not-for-profit and the public sector, in all areas including corporate finance, tax, business recovery, financial accounting and forensic accounting.

I chose ACA as it appealed given the excellent qualification and also the opportunities and flexibility that existed following qualification.” Mark Donnelly, Chief Finance Officer, The FA

Getting started
To become an ICAEW Chartered Accountant, you need to complete a training agreement with an ICAEW authorised training employer. The ACA qualification is one of the most advanced learning and professional development programs available. It provides the combination of knowledge, skills and experience needed to qualify as an ICAEW Chartered Accountant.

Three people
To secure your training agreement, apply directly to the employer of your choice. You’ll need to have a proven academic track record and be able to demonstrate key employability skills. You will earn a competitive salary and in many cases your salary will increase throughout your training agreement.

ICAEW has over 138,000 members in more than 160 countries meaning you can train and work in places such as the Middle East, Dubai, Russia, Malaysia and Singapore. One in eight ICAEW members work outside the UK, so the opportunities are endless.

My journey to becoming an ICAEW Chartered Accountant began when I visited the Big 4 firms in Saudi Arabia. I found that PwC was just one of a number of firms who offered the necessary training following my successful achievement of a BA in Economics at Punjab University.’ Ahmed Mukhtar, Senior Tax Consultant, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Riyadh (Saudi Arabia)

The Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business (CFAB)

Globe
The Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business (CFAB) from ICAEW provides essential knowledge in business, finance and accounting – vital for today’s competitive job market. CFAB is achievable in 12 months, or you can choose to take longer. There are flexible study options including self-study, online, classroom and more, plus you can take the modules at any time of the year and in any order. The CFAB syllabus mirrors the first six exams of the ACA, so you could study CFAB on its own or as a route towards chartered accountancy.
