FAQs: How can a foundation degree help my career?

Foundation degrees are a good way of acquiring some basic knowledge and experience for working in particular areas. However, many graduate recruiters will prefer an honours degree over a foundation degree when it comes to providing jobs. Search courses and research opportunities to improve your chances, or alternatively consider entering your chosen profession at a lower level and working your way up.

When talking about your foundation course, it is important to emphasise the practical aspects of your studies to recruiters and to add in any previous work experience should you not hold a higher qualification. For many jobs, experience is just as important as qualifications.
