FAQs: How do I find voluntary work in the legal field?

Most firms offer formal summer scheme programmes and some offer spring and winter schemes as well. Outside of these it can be difficult to secure voluntary work in the larger firms. However, it can be useful to send your CV and a cover letter to smaller firms, or high street firms, asking if you can undertake some work shadowing. Persevere and do not just give up after sending one or two letters. Many people undertake some pro-bono work whilst at university as this gives them some experience of working on real legal problems.
