Fairview International School
Dedicated to providing quality education, Fairview International School was established in 1978 for parents seeking a more enriching and comprehensive form of learning for their children. From humble beginnings and only a handful of students, Fairview International School today is a home away from home for over 2,000 students in four International Baccalaureate (IB) World Schools across Malaysia, representing over 55 different nations. All four schools offer a continuum of international education to pupils aged 3 to 17. Two of these schools offer the college level IB Diploma Programme renowned for its rigorous and diverse capacity, commanding preferentiality with its average grade score of 30 to be equivalent to 2 A* and 1 A at GCE A Levels. Data obtained from UCAS website, as of April 2014.
Fairview’s commitment to professional development includes trainings and workshops to share best practices within education and the IB context. It also sponsors various programmes for teachers and administrators such as the Cambridge Diploma for Teachers (CIDT) and/or the Bachelor of Education from Roehampton University (London, UK).
However, not content with only providing quality education, it attained university status as Fairview International University College thereby also serving as a research institute. This encourages the boundaries for not just the IB programme but education itself to be pushed through a tailored postgraduate programme with Sheffield Hallam University (Sheffield, UK) with a Master of Arts (MA) in Education. Through this, teachers carry out research on teaching practice(s) of their own interest thereby advancing and contributing to the field of educational research. Moreover, graduates of this postgraduate programme are eligible for further certification from the IB Organisation; the IB Advanced Certificate in Teaching and Learning Research. This is because this particular MA in Education is an IB-recognised graduate programme, and, that Fairview International University College is an IB-recognised university.
Additionally, to develop the leadership and managerial capacity of academic and administrative staff, Fairview also supports and sponsors individuals with a Master of Business Administration.
