Bairds Malt Limited
Bairds Malt Limited was formed in March 1999, when two existing companies, Hugh Baird & Sons Limited and Moray Firth Maltings plc, merged to form a new company.
The Company was acquired by GrainCorp, a publically listed Australian grain company, in November 2009.
We currently operate five malting plants within the UK and produce malt primarily for the brewing and distilling industries. Approximately 10% of our malt is exported to customers around the world who want to use British malt in their brewing or distilling operations.
Our principal raw material is barley that is grown throughout the UK and our malting plants are located so as to be near to the prime barley growing areas.
In the UK there are also three Merchanting companies (Saxon Agriculture Limited, Mark Lawrence Grain and Scotgrain Agriculture Limited). These companies procure malting barley for our own use and also trade in barley, other grains and related agricultural commodities.
In 2013 we launched Brewers Select, our one-stop-shop supplier of quality ingredients and equipment for craft and microbrewers.
