At DLA Piper the Training Contract consists of four six-month seats in different areas of the firm. Trainees are given an opportunity to express what areas they would like to experience and also have the opportunity to do a seat abroad, or a client secondment.
Trainees are given a high level of responsibility and their progress is monitored via regular performance reviews and informal feedback. Trainees benefit from working closely with people at all levels of the business, as well as having client contact and continuous departmental training. Trainees are also encouraged to take part in business development and corporate responsibility initiatives to develop their professional skills and networks.
All of this combined provides trainees with an excellent grounding on which to build their legal careers.
We welcome applications from students from all degree disciplines, who have demonstrated consistent academic excellence. In addition we seek ambitious and committed individuals, whose good communication and analytical skills enable them to handle the intellectual challenges of the job.
We would expect all applicants to have achieved a minimum of ABB from three A Levels (excluding General Studies); a minimum of five Scottish Highers within the A and B band; or equivalent exams. Candidates must have achieved, or be on course to achieve, a 2.i degree classification.
The application form for training contracts commencing in 2015 will be available from April 2013. Please add this to your favourites to apply at a later date.
