London Business Conferences’ Graduate Business Development Leadership Programme is designed to accelerate talented individuals into high profile revenue generating roles within a relatively short time frame. Working in an entrepreneurial environment that is supportive yet competitive, you will generate sponsorship and exhibition business on international events. The programme will be ideal for any commercially minded graduate who is passionate about success, teamwork, and exceeding expectations.
You will start the programme as a Sponsorship & Exhibition Campaign Manager, developing a well-rounded set of business development skills. Your main communication tools will be the mediums of the telephone, email, and social media combined with physically attending around 6 international events a year, opening up opportunities for face-to-face relationship building.
Key responsibilities:
- You will be set clear objectives and targets to be achieved through: -
- Learning “the LBC 10 step” consultative sales process – an industry leading business development tool
- Creating a fully comprehensive sales pitch based on an intensive one-on-one interview with the event producer
- Analyzing the vendor market place for each event and defining commercial categories
- Researching approximately 2000 brand new leads for each conference (over the course of a 12 week campaign)
- Engaging prospects on commercial opportunities to be gained from the event value proposition and relevant USP’s
- Questioning prospects to find out how to deliver a sponsorship package that delivers properly matched advantages
- Creating be-spoke packages based on prior insight and making recommendations
- Brokering opportunities with senior decision-makers via phone and email
- Closing business and ensuring the event exceeds all sponsorship and exhibition financial targets
- Reporting back intelligence to senior executives
Profile of a typical LBC success story:
First year: Sponsorship & Exhibition Campaign Manager You will learn the basics of developing business in the more transactional context of selling exhibition stands and off the shelf sponsorship packages. Expect to earn between £40,000 and £50,000 in your first year (including commission).
Second year: Promoted To Event Commercial Director Rapidly gaining experience of putting together high value, be-spoke sponsorship packages based on thorough consultation with prospects. Be able to credibly pitch at CEO/board level. Trusted with the responsibility for the entire SPEX revenue on an event. Expect to earn between £60,000 and £75,000 (including commission).
Third year: Portfolio Sponsorship Director – Now strategically responsible for the delivery of SPEX across a stream of established and new launch events. Possibly starting to hire people in order build a team of people. Expect to earn £100,000 plus (including commission).

Education & Experience
- Ideally a first or 2:1 degree, coupled with one to two years commercial experience.
