Overview of the Role:
The Retail Credit team is an integral part of the business, responsible for managing credit strategies and model based risk management solutions. This multi-faceted role helps control the Banks’ exposure to bad and doubtful debt, and manage its capital under Advanced IRB regulation on its Retail Credit portfolio; inclusive of mortgages, personal loans, credit cards and personal overdrafts.
As a Risk Analyst you will be encouraged to develop your leadership and technical skills, in a growing and dynamic part of the Bank, working in partnership with an extensive network of contacts throughout the business.
This rewarding and challenging role is critical to the future success of the Bank’s retail portfolios. You will support the team to ensure that the correct balance is struck between asset quality, planned growth and return on equity. Whilst ensuring that credit decision strategies remain customer focussed and compliant. This involves development, creation and use of model-based credit strategies to ensure credit allocation remains responsible, and within the appropriate risk appetite. Communication of insightful monitoring, ensuring accuracy of data, provision of enhanced reporting, support to business-wide projects and development of efficient process improvements are also vital to the role.
Typical Responsibilities:
  • Undertake statistical modelling and data analysis to support the development of the banks retail credit risk models in line with bank standards and compliance requirements.
  • Produce recommendations for changes to credit strategies and models.
  • Undertake analysis to ensure credit strategies and models remain robust.
  • Undertake analysis of benchmark, market and economic information to provide key insight of current and future position of strategies.
  • Provide Management Information and insightful commentary on portfolio and model performance.
  • Develop an improved data framework.
  • Develop Management Information tools.
  • Provide continued support to key stakeholders across the business.
  • Manage own workloads according to prioritisation defined from management.
  • Ensure full compliance with all internal and external legal and regulatory obligations.
  • Present output to key stakeholders both within and external to the Retail Credit department.

Person requirements

Essential Attributes

  • Ability to analyse and interpret data, demonstrating a logical approach to problem solving in relation to both business and technical issues.
  • Highly numerate individual preferably educated to degree level.
  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
Desirable Attributes
  • SAS / SQL coding experience
  • Experience at using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word & PowerPoint)
  • Modelling experience using regression techniques
  • Previous success at creation and analysis of management information
  • Ability to develop efficient processes and to manage multiple responsibilities and varied workload
