Need a break from revision? Get inspired with Raleigh International
As the academic year draws to a close students and graduates across the length and breadth of the British Isles are gearing up to start the graduate job hunt. But as we all know, competition is fierce and times are tough. What is going to help you stand out from the crowd?
How about a Raleigh International expedition?
We are experts in our field. Since 1984 we have inspired 35,000 people to get out there and rise to the challenges of life on a Raleigh expedition. Doing Raleigh is a proactive, constructive way of taking time out to build the skills you need for your future career.
And it works! 71 % of Raleigh International volunteers don't think there could be any better work experience at their time of life than Raleigh International (Dr Andrew Rothwell, DeMontford University).

But most importantly Raleigh is recognised by employers. As Richard Reed, co-founder of Innocent, the drinks and smoothie company says:
"If you've done Raleigh, you've actually acquired and honed a lot of the skills that you need in the workplace, in terms of leadership, management, project delivery. It's a pretty phenomenal thing."
Go on a Raleigh expedition and return refreshed, motivated and full of confidence with key employability skills to kick start your career.
So what does a Raleigh International expedition involve?
We run 5, 7 and 10 week expeditions. They are a combination of genuinely needed community and environment projects and a tough but rewarding adventure challenge in your choice of Borneo, India or Costa Rica & Nicaragua. We have two aims. Firstly, to build sustainable communities and protect the environment and secondly, to help young people, from different countries and backgrounds, to work together to build and demonstrate employability skills that they can illustrate on CVs and application forms on their return to the UK.

But what about the cost?
Because we are a charity, most volunteers fundraise the cost of an expedition, with help from our support coordinators, who are on hand to provide you with ideas, materials and even organised events to give you a helping hand. And with no rent to pay, and all food and accommodation taken care of when you are in the field, don't let the fundraising target put you off. We also offer a range of bursaries for anyone aged 17 - 24, for up to one third of the fundraising target, to those who otherwise wouldn't have the chance to take part in an expedition.
