Latest news: £20,000 for top design student

Graduate Fashion Week’s (GFW) 21st anniversary is set to take place this weekend at London’s Earls Court. 08/06/2012

The showcase event will involve over 1,000 of the top fashion students from 40 universities across the UK and overseas, designed to give students a global platform and a boost into the industry.

Two catwalk halls will host the final collections and the event will finish with the gala show, where one student will win the £20,000 along with the gold award from title sponsor, George at Asda.

The student’s work will also be given large-scale internet exposure, with every outfit from every runway show featuring in an online gallery at the GFW’s media partner, Vogue  .

Some of the biggest names in the industry will rub shoulders with the graduates and young designers. Daphne Guinness, Suzy Menkes, Christopher Bailey and Fiona Lambert from George are all confirmed as judges at this year’s show.

A new Fashion GPS system will also be introduced this year, meaning guests can check into the event using their iPhone, iPad, or Android device.

The event, running from June 10 until June 13, is free to all press and industry and visitors can apply for show tickets at Graduate Fashion Week - Industry Registration  .
