Latest news : Amazon to create 2,000 jobs

Amazon is set to create 2,000 UK jobs by opening three new distribution centres over the next two years. 10/09/2012

The online company has created 600 jobs already by opening the first distribution centre in Hemel Hempstead.

The US-based retailer plans to open two more depots in the coming months. The jobs are to include positions in human resources, management and computing.

Christopher North, Amazon managing director, said the company has 'created thousands of jobs in the UK over the last few years and are delighted to announce plans to create thousands more in the next 24 months'.

'Our recruitment team has been exceptionally busy recently hiring hundreds of employees at the Hemel Hempstead fulfilment centre and they will certainly be busy over the next couple of years as we continue to expand to provide customers with the best possible experience,' added Mr North.

'This is great news, not only for those individuals who will find work, but for the UK economy. This shows that the UK has the infrastructure and talent to continue to attract major investments from leading companies such as Amazon,' said prime minister David Cameron.
