Gain a competitive edge by entering the Bosch Technology Horizon Awards, says the 2011 winner. 06/12/2011
The winner of the 14-18 category in 2011 won the competition after writing about sustainable ‘closed hoop’ manufacturing. Felicity Harer came top in her age group and received £700 in cash prize money. She now has a CV that makes her stand out in an overcrowded employment market.
‘The subject of how technology will change and shape our world in the future was one that I found interesting and writing the essay for the competition gave me a chance to find out more about it. The research I did for my essay gave me more of an idea of the direction engineering is heading in, and exposed me to some of the emerging fields of technology that are currently relatively unknown. My new awareness of the topic will help me make an informed choice when choosing modules to study at University,’ said Felicity.
After travelling to China with the winnings, Felicity has returned to the University of Leicester to finish studying its aerospace engineering course. She hopes to work in areas relating to sustainability.
The 2012 Bosch Technology Horizon Awards is another essay writing competition split into two groups with cash prizes for the winners.
This year’s competition question is concerning environmental technology and human behaviour and how engineering has helped develop the infrastructure needed to host next year's Olympics.
