Film Oxford is offering up to eight students the chance to study for a Masters degree in film. 13/11/2012

The course is being run by Raindance, the London-based group with alumni including Christopher Nolan, Edgar Wright and Guy Ritchie.

Film Oxford is an independent centre that offers opportunities in film to all, from beginners to professionals.

'We plan to launch the course in January. It's very exciting', said Film Oxford course manager Richard Duriez. 'It is on the back of a change of legislation which means organisations outside of universities can run degree programmes.'

Mr Duriez continued, 'Our philosophy has always been that the best way to teach filmmaking is to actually do it. This [course] formalises that and means people can actually gain a degree at the same time as getting first-hand experience.'

Raindance head of postgraduate education, Carl Schoenfeld added, 'The great thing about this is the variety of different projects the students can take on.

'The experience helps them gain a greater understanding of the film industry and the opportunities available to them in that environment.'

The course, which costs £7,950, will be accredited by Staffordshire University and can be studied full-time in one year or part-time over two.
