The head of the Civil Service, Sir Bob Kerslake, is to host a live Question and Answer session on Facebook with graduates interested in the Civil Service Fast Stream programme. 01/05/2012
The session will be a valuable opportunity for anyone who is considering applying for the Fast Stream programme later this year. Any prospective applicants wondering why they should apply, or wanting to learn more about the unique experiences that the programme offers, can take this opportunity to obtain an insight from the very top of the Civil Service.
This will also be an opportunity for successful applicants who are currently awaiting assignment to a government department to ask about what they have to look forward to once they get started and what opportunities they can expect in the short and long term. They may also wish to ask Sir Kerslake for his thoughts on how to build a career in the Civil Service and find out about his expectations of Fast Streamers.
The Fast Stream Facebook group was set up by current Fast Streamers and provides essential insights on starting a career in the Civil Service. It has nearly 3,000 followers. On a daily basis Fast Streamers from different departments and from both generalist and specialist schemes go online to take questions from prospective Fast Streamers wanting to learn more about the scheme and to ask for advice about the application process.
Sir Kerslake said, ‘Using Facebook to connect with prospective Fast Streamers shows how the Civil Service continues to move forward and is a great example of how we are making the most of new methods of technology to ensure we are more accessible.
‘The Facebook page has been developed by current Fast Streamers and shows their innovation and how they can make a real difference to the operation of the Civil Service. This Q&A session will be a fantastic opportunity for me to show how we continue to value the talent that the Fast Stream programme consistently attracts.
‘I am looking forward to engaging the potential future leaders of the Civil Service.’
Sir Kerslake’s Question and Answer session will take place on 8 May 2012 from 1pm to 2pm at Facebook - Civil Service Fast Stream.
To ensure that this session is as helpful as possible for successful and prospective Fast Streamers, participants are requested to limit questions to the subject of the scheme and its place within the Civil Service.
