Graduates hoping for a career in the construction sector could benefit from plans outlined in the 2013 Budget, it has been suggested 17/04/2013
According to Rob Searle, director of Careerstructure.com, the plans, which were announced at the end of March, have the potential to provide a significant boost to the property and housebuilding industries.
The government unveiled the Help to Buy scheme, which offers support to those looking to get on, or move up, the property ladder in the form of an equity loan. This will help prospective homebuyers who can only afford a 5% deposit gain access to a mortgage.
Housing demand is expected to increase as a result, which should lead to growth in the number of construction projects started by housebuilders.
Mr Searle commented, 'The housing market has long faced its struggles - so the recent government announcement is a positive step.
'Not only will the initiative facilitate mortgage approvals for first-time buyers, reducing the housing shortage countrywide, it will also attract investors to projects more confident about the uptake from residents, stimulating job creation and economic growth.'
He went on to add that it's not just major building projects that could be kick-started thanks to the new plans. Small-scale projects too, are more likely to get underway, which he suggested could particularly benefit small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and construction companies.
With growth predicted in property and construction in the near future, it could well be that the UK's next estate agents, architects, civil engineers, housing managers, and other industry experts, now have more of a chance of getting their first break in the sector.
