Latest news : Employers recruiting online

A new survey has revealed that employers are moving online to hire new recruits. 07/02/2012

A leading provider of recruitment software solutions, Candidate Manager conducted the survey into how modern companies recruit, finding that social media is utilised by 14% of those surveyed as a recruitment solution. Of those that use new social media to attract candidates, 92% use LinkedIn, 43% use Facebook and 32% use Twitter.

Networking and local press, once seen as the most effective ways to attract new staff, is now used by only 5% of respondents.

The research shows that more companies still have a page on Facebook (77%) than LinkedIn (66%).

Marketing executive at Candidate Manager, Declan Whooley said of the research:

‘The survey demonstrated that 2011 was a challenging year across most industries. The next twelve months will be fascinating from a recruitment perspective. It is perhaps not surprising that the most common recruitment objective for 2012 is to streamline the recruitment process.’

The most popular form of recruitment is currently corporate websites and online job boards which are preferred by 47% of respondents when attracting employees.

‘It is interesting that our survey found that lower cost per hire was a recruitment objective for half of the respondents, while 53% wanted a faster time to hire,’ added Declan.

Of those that responded, a quarter advised that it took two or more months to hire a new member of staff while just over half (53%) of those surveyed hoped that the recruitment process would become faster in 2012.

Making the recruitment process more streamlined was the aim for 62% of respondents, making it the most popular choice of advancement in 2012 for recruitment. This was followed closely by enhanced employer branding.
