Latest news : Engineering jobs at Aker Solutions

The oil services company, Aker Solutions, will create 500 jobs between its two engineering offices in Aberdeen and London over the next year. 31/08/2011

The Norwegian-based business will recruit 300 staff to its Scottish operation and bring a further 200 jobs to its recently established West London office.

‘Last year we decided to take a much more proactive recruitment approach. Since then our strategy has been to man up ahead of the big waves of work that we know are coming. That offers much greater predictability for our customers and ourselves,’ said Alan Brunnen, a managing director at Aker Solutions in Aberdeen.

Aker Solutions is one of the biggest employers in Scotland, with a workforce of 2,500 people. It has further operations and offices around the UK and employs 23,000 staff in 30 countries worldwide.

By the end of 2015, they hope to have employed 500 staff for the West London branch alone. This is inclusive of the 200 engineering personnel they will recruit next year.

‘Our company has had a historical presence in London, so this is a re-entry to an engineering market we know very well. So far we have received more than 2,000 job applications, which underlines that there is scope to grow this business rapidly,’ said Valborg Lundegaard, head of engineering in Aker Solutions.
