IT graduates looking to break into the industry have received a boost after a leading SME promised to recruit 100 graduates at its new London office.
Softcat , an IT provider which was recently voted the Sunday Times’ best small company to work for in 2010, will open its new offices in September and look to recruit for the graduate positions over the next three years.
Staffing positions will be available in sales, account management and support with new employees working alongside existing employees who are moving from the company’s offices in Marlow and Manchester.
‘Our new recruits in London will enjoy all the same benefits as our current staff in Marlow and Manchester. We feel that our special “work hard, play hard” ethos will make them want to stay and build a long-term career with us,’ said Shelley Ferrigno, recruitment manager at Softcat .
Softcat came top of the Sunday Times’ poll with a series of perks that include student loan contributions, healthcare, half-day holidays on birthdays and lunch at restaurants. High-performing staff can also win trips to exotic locations around the world.
‘London is one of the best places to recruit,’ said Martin Hellawell, Softcat’s managing director. ‘We have therefore decided it is time to build a presence there. We are growing quickly because we attract the best people and because we look after them well, so they enjoy their work and help us to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction.’
‘Having a presence in the capital, where thousands of bright graduates choose to live, will help to ensure this pattern continues,’ added Hellawell.
