Graduate positions look set to increase, with reports showing a rise in job opportunities and demand for new staff in most areas of the UK 04/02/2013
Vacancies have risen by 3% on last month and are up 12% compared with this time last year, according to the latest figures from the Reed Job Index.
Education, health and medicine and social care are the sectors which are showing the greatest improvement.
The North East of England had the highest increase, with 30% more jobs on offer than 12 months ago, followed by the North West, Wales, West Midlands and Scotland.
Chairman of Reed.com, James Reed, said, 'Throughout the downturn, a number of commentators have been predicting a torrid time for the UK jobs market. Five years later they have all been proved wrong.
'Even if the statistics confirm a triple-dip recession in the UK, the growing capacity in the labour market suggests that business confidence is returning and any recession is unlikely to be long-lasting.'
Jobs in London also trebled in the past month, with 2,500 new positions compared to just 800 last year, as reported by recruitment company, Astbury Marsden.
