Universities are taking on more IT students and the subject has ranked as one of the top choices among high school students.
The online travel firm, Hotels.com, found that 28% of adults questioned in the survey wished they had taken advantage of the rise of technology by gaining employment in the industry.
Of the 2,000 people surveyed, 41% would have preferred a career in technology to test their ability and intellect and at least 44% would have chosen a career in technology because of the pay.
Those surveyed also stated that job opportunities were a reason for wanting to work in the industry.
For university students who are graduating in IT, the future of the industry looks positive and healthily competitive.
