Latest news: Jobs in Queensland

Working holiday visas with Tourism Queensland and STA Travel will give young people the chance to live and work in Australia. 13/10/2011

Budding travellers will have the chance to win one of 18 working holiday visas and a guaranteed job in Queensland, Australia. There will be further prizes available giving 18- to 30-year-olds the chance to compete for other jobs.

Packages will include jobs such as working as a beach and water sports attendant in a luxury resort, a chef working onboard a boat crossing the Great Barrier Reef, a station hand in the Queensland outback, a waiter at a beachfront café or a bartender at a lively hostel.

‘No longer does a gap year mean spending your parents’ inheritance or ending up in debt after exploring the world. Young people today want to gain skills that will equip them for their future; they are smart travellers. The working holiday visas offer the opportunity to stock up on dollars and visit great Queensland locations, from the excitement of Brisbane, to the Whitsundays, Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef,’ said Jane Nicholson, international director for Tourism Queensland in the UK.

Travellers can also download an e-zine which has been put together by Tourism Queensland and STA Travel, allowing them to plan their holiday. Each copy downloaded provides travellers with a special voucher code with which they’ll receive £50 off their next booking when presented at an STA travel agent.

For a chance to win one of 18 working holidays check out Experience Queensland.

‘My Aussie working holiday is definitely something I will never forget.  I was able to earn some money and therefore make my holiday last longer. Because the pay in Australia is so much better I was actually able to come back home in profit!’ said traveller, Jaber Mohamed.
