The University of Salford has launched a new MA in Nursing which is open to all graduates – making it the first of its kind in the country.
The new course is aimed at graduates of any discipline who want to change direction and pursue a career in nursing. It is novel as it leads to both a postgraduate qualification and registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council as an adult or mental health nurse.
Learning takes place at Salford’s hi-tech new facilities which include clinical practice wards and a state-of-the-art clinical simulation ward with computerised mannequin patients to create real-life, practical experiences.
Students also undertake clinical placements throughout the course to develop the practical skills needed to assess and treat patients. Through the research skills they gain they are encouraged to question conventional ways of working and to develop new approaches to healthcare.
Patric Devitt of the School of Nursing & Midwifery said, 'This is a trail blazing course that gives nurses the skills they need to really stand out from the crowd while also delivering the highest level of care.'
