An access all areas campaign offering young people an insight into the music industry has been launched by the campaign career charity icould and BlackBerry. 02/08/2011
The campaign hopes to inform and reveal the many career paths and roles that are available within the music industry, other than performing.
The current job market for people aged 16-24 is faltering, with the unemployment rate at 20%. This type of project is a welcome addition in building confidence and inspiring young people to make positive changes for their futures.
Music Insiders will show the varied careers available in music besides holding a microphone, with career stories from Coldplay’s label president, Jessie J’s choreographer, presenters, journalists and make-up artists to name a few.
To have a fulfilling job in the music industry, passion and commitment are as important as qualifications.
‘Music Insiders aims to give young people the confidence to follow their passion in music, by considering careers beyond the spotlight that are often more accessible, better paid, longer lasting and just as rewarding as the careers of the artists themselves,’ said icould director, David Arnold.
BlackBerry and icould are also giving young music lovers the chance to enter a competition which will see winners spend a day job shadowing on a music video set, a magazine photoshoot and go on a trip to the Ibiza superclub, Amnesia.
A free and independent online resource, icould is a resource full of ideas and direction for people of all ages. Having worked with hundreds of employees across the UK, it showcases individual stories through short films told by real people in real jobs.
‘For icould to grow and help more young people, we need the support of brands such as BlackBerry, to share their experiences and spark ideas for alternative careers,’ added David.
