The National Council for Work Experience (NCWE) is celebrating 10 years of work experience excellence as its 2013 awards open for entries. 26/09/2012
Over the past decade, the NCWE Awards have grown to become the most widely recognised and prestigious awards in their category, encouraging and rewarding UK employers who provide valuable internships to students and graduates, both in this country and overseas.
The 13 award categories cover the full spectrum of organisations from large and small companies to those in the public and charitable sectors. Both short and longer term internships are eligible for an award as well as schemes that have been recently set up.
To mark the 10th anniversary, a new category has been introduced. The 'Best of the Best' is open to all previous overall winners, and this year will also see Timpson chairman, John Timpson as host.
Mike Hill, chief executive of the Higher Education Careers Services Unit that runs the NCWE Awards said, 'One of the more significant employment developments over the past decade has been the rise of the internship, particularly in recent years. We've seen many improvements to standards in work experience provision and the benefits don’t stop at the intern with many organisations reporting about how internships have benefited their business.
'Each year I'm delighted to hear about all of the new schemes that have been set up as well as the ones that have stood the test of time and continue to develop and grow. If your company offers internship opportunities and you’re proud of what you do, I encourage you to enter this year.'
Organisations can enter their own placements online or students and careers advisers can nominate a company for an award at NCWE - Awards.
The closing date for entries is 7 December 2012 and finalists will be notified in January 2013, when they will be invited to the awards ceremony in central London in March 2013.
