Latest news: Nestlé to create 300 jobs

Retail giant Nestlé will create 300 new jobs after plans to extend a coffee manufacturing plant in Derbyshire were approved. 30/11/2011

The company will invest £110million at the Nescafé Dolce Gusto plant in Hatton, trebling production and increasing worker numbers from 500 to 800 before the end of 2013.

Twelve new high-speed production lines will be introduced at the plant, which will manufacture pods for sale in the UK and export to over 38 countries worldwide.

Some of the new recruits will form part of the first intake of the Nestlé Academy, a new initiative aimed at graduates and younger recruits.

‘Recruiting the best people for our business is the key to our continued success. Through the Nestlé Academy we will double our number of apprentices, graduates and internships supporting the economy through the training of skilled workers,’ said Paul Grimwood, chairman and CEO of Nestlé UK & Ireland.

‘We will also provide on the job training which will open up academic study to those who otherwise might not feel this is a route open to them,’ he added.

The news was welcomed by Prime Minister David Cameron, who said it was ‘brilliant news for UK manufacturing and the local community’.

The news comes after Nestlé Waters announced plans to build a £35million state of the art factory in Buxton earlier this month.
