Latest news: Santander graduate scheme

The international bank has launched its biggest ever graduate scheme for 2012 offering 100 places in one of 12 business areas. 24/10/2011

The two-year programme provides graduates with the chance to kick-start their careers via valuable on-the-job experience and fast track career development. Throughout the Santander Graduate Programme, successful applicants will be constantly challenged and given a variety of responsibilities, which will help prepare them for a long-term career in the banking sector.

‘We offer talented people the chance to accelerate their career development with us through a number of different routes. Our 2012 recruits will have a critical role to play in shaping our business and delivering our future success,’ said Simon Lloyd, HR director at Santander.

The global bank also runs an internship programme for final year students, a Flying Start programme for school leavers and an apprentice scheme. Through all four programmes, Santander hopes to recruit more than 300 people in 2012.

Santander is furthering its internship programme for the second year running. Through a 10-12 week placement, candidates have the chance to see the day-to-day running of a global bank; offering participants invaluable exposure to the banking and finance industry.

More than 50 places are available to students in their final year whilst a survey conducted last year showed that 90% of interns wanted to work for Santander after the placement had finished.
