Latest news: Scholarships for budding lawyers

Budding lawyers keen to study at The College of Law now have the chance to apply for a range of new scholarships to help with their fees. 03/11/2011

The College has launched awards for law students undertaking the Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL), the Legal Practice Course (LPC) and its new undergraduate LL.B law degree, which starts next year.

One full scholarship is available for each of the full-time GDL and LPC programmes starting in autumn 2012. The lucky winners will have their entire course fees paid and can study at a College centre of their choice. In addition two runners-up on each programme will receive a £2,000 scholarship towards the cost of their fees.

Students accepting a place on the College’s new 2-year LL.B starting in September 2012 can bid to win one of ten £3,000 scholarships to help towards their first year fee of £9,000.

To apply for the GDL and LPC scholarship scheme students must have accepted a place on the full-time programme by January 31, 2012. They need to submit an essay, short-video or other form of digital presentation by February 14, 2012 on the subject: ‘My vision of the modern lawyer in the 21st century’.

LL.B students need to have accepted their place by July 31 to enter. The deadline for their submission is August 20, 2012 and its subject ‘Why the world needs lawyers’ looks for their ideas about the role of lawyers in modern society.  

All entries will be judged by a panel comprising College of Law and external legal professionals.
