Student Volunteering Week (SVW) starts on 11 February, with events scheduled to take place at universities and colleges across the UK 06/02/13
SVW was established in 2001 to highlight the importance of voluntary work and encourage students to get involved.
The showcase event is the Student Volunteer of the Year Award, which will be announced on Wednesday 13 February by minister for civil society Nick Hurd.
The five nominees include Anna Ray, chosen for her voluntary work teaching refugees English, and Thomas Holt, who on average spends 18 hours a week volunteering.
The winner will receive £1,000 towards a volunteer project or charity of their choice.
Current volunteers are encouraged to share their experiences by entering the SVW photo competition, which aims to document all aspects of student volunteering and gather 365 photographs - one for every day of the year.
Regional events are also taking place across the UK. These include the 'Good Deed Day' for students in Oxford and 'The Really Big Student Volunteering Day' for those studying at Liverpool universities.
