Teach First has launched its national ‘What Would You Change?’ competition, inviting all university and sixth form students in the UK to discuss how they would improve the education system. 09/02/2012

The competition is in its second year and the charity has called for thought provoking and creative suggestions that address the question ‘What would you change about education in the UK?

The competition is open from the 27th January to the 5th March 2012. The judging panel includes BBC News: Education & Family correspondent Reeta Chakrabarti who will pick two winners - one for students enrolled in Further Education and one for students enrolled in Higher Education.

Entries will be assessed for potential impact, creativity and potential for practical application and can be submitted in text or video form.

Teach First wants to ensure that no child’s educational success is limited by their socio-economic background. As part of our 10th anniversary year, we are keen to hear from current students about what they think of education in the UK and how it could be changed for the better to help us achieve this goal,’ said James Darley, director of graduate recruitment at Teach First.

Winners will receive an iPad and a three week internship with Teach First. All winners and shortlisted entrants will be invited to an awards ceremony hosted by Teach First to recognise contributions to discussions on education policy.

‘We are thrilled to have such a knowledgeable judging panel this year and hope this competition will stimulate discussion around the issue of educational disadvantage. It is also a wonderful opportunity for the winners to secure some great work experience,’ added James.
