A Chinese telecoms company has revealed plans to create 500 permanent jobs in the UK over the next three years. 04/05/2011
This expansion will see Huawei, based in Basingstoke, Hampshire, double its workforce in the UK. The firm also expect to generate a further 1,000 to 1,500 subcontracting roles within the next three years.
New roles will be created for engineers, sales staff and managers at its headquarters.
Of particular note to graduates is the news that Huawei has announced it is developing a formal UK graduate programme to attract a ‘new generation’ of British talent.
Victor Zhang, chief executive of Huawei UK, said, ‘We are committed to bringing more job opportunities to the UK, which is a key market for us.
‘An increase in employees in our UK office will help us to provide more customised and innovative products and solutions for British telecom carriers, enterprise customers and consumers.’
Huawei provides telecommunications equipment to 45 of the 50 biggest telecoms network operators in the UK.
Huawei recently opened the Cyber Security Evaluation Centre in Banbury, with the aim of enhancing the reliability and security of telecoms networks, combating the rise of counterfeit hardware components.
